Category:Theatre ensembles[edit]

What is the difference with Category:Theatre companies? And why do they not have one parent category in common? JopkeB (talk) 12:50, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@JopkeB: IMHO they can be merged immediately. The duplicate category was probably created by mistake because the name "companies" evoked to me a legal entity rather than an artistic collective (one theatrical organization can have more ensembles, e.g. the drama ensemble and the opera ensemble)
As regards the second question, categorization of these categories has evolved gradually. Theatre companies was moved in 2018-02-14 (by Butko) from Theatre to Theatrical organizations, while Theatre ensembles was not moved nor merged then. --ŠJů (talk) 13:19, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, ŠJů, for your quick and clear answer. I'll wait some weeks to see whether there are any other opinions and then I'll make the changes.--JopkeB (talk) 15:47, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JopkeB: IMHO the Cfd can be closed now. This category contained just 1 country-subcategory (created by me) and a few individual photos. The simple merging of little-used clearly duplicate category is not considered a controversial step that would have to wait for discussion, unless I, as the creator of this category, have any objections. I renamed the Czech subcategory to be unified with similar categories for other countries, moved it and the several photos and redirected the category. Should anyone consider it appropriate to change the terminology or some other changes ("in" vs. "from" country etc.), may open a new discussion about the target category. --ŠJů (talk) 16:33, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Theatre companies will stay, Category:Theatre ensembles has been merged into Category:Theatre companies. --JopkeB (talk) 14:05, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
